Our latest research article on Pandrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria appeared today in the prestigious Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. In this work, leaded by our bright PhD student Stamatis Karakonstantis, we systematically retrieved, qualitatively synthesised and present the main characteristics and findings of all studies published to date regarding the epidemiology, mortality and treatment of infections caused by pandrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (PDR GNB). Our review shows a recent and increasing dissemination of PDR GNB in at least 25 countries in five continents, and we present and discuss findings on several different antibiotic regimens that have been reported to have some success in treating PDR GNB infections.
